Venture Theatre will open its first full production Thursday morning, the children’s musical “Hansel and Gretel.”
This will be different than the age-old version. The script and songs are original, locally made.
Venture Theatre is going the route of American Folklore Theatre at Fish Creek and Frank’s Dinner Theatre at Lawrence. It will create original shows on a regular basis.
“Hansel and Gretel” is by playwright Patrick Quigley and composer Kevin MacLeod, with Quigley writing the lyrics. They are Green Bay residents.
Performances are at 9:30 a.m. Thursday (sold out) through Saturday and Aug. 11-13 at the 60-seat theater, which shares the old De Pere Library at 380 Main Ave. with a companion venture, ComedyCity.
Other original productions are lined up for evenings starting in September.
